10Laning as Ivy
Author's category · 0 items · Ivy is pretty weak early. Your gun deals almost no damage from long range and your cooldowns are very long. Focus on farming and denying souls, damaging the minions with Thorns. Avoid using Thorns on enemy heroes directly, instead use them to deny areas that you don't want them to go like bridges and corners. Your main objectives is keeping you and your partner alive, while denying souls and getting a few crates.

11Transition to Mid Game
Author's category · 0 items · After unlocking Air Drop, you can easily disrupt fights in other lanes. Push the wave, ping where you're going and help your team. Always check the situation with F1-F5 and look at the scoreboard. Losing lanes are risky to help, but you may save their game with a good play. Winning lanes are easy to gank, but sometimes they don't really need the help. Ivy rewards good game sense and communication.

12Objectives
Author's category · 0 items · Deadlock has multiple objectives to fight for. Rifts spawn buffed troops to push lanes, Urns give souls and Mid Boss drops 3 Revives. As a character with high mobility and huge area denial, you should always be prepared for them. Try to remember when they spawn so you can be ready to fight and carry someone that is behind. Just make sure to pick fights you can win and don't forget to push lanes, and some people might try to get your base while everyone's fighting.

13Mid-Late Game
Author's category · 0 items · This is where you will need to be very careful with your cooldowns. Some heroes are late game monsters (Seven, Gheist) while other will start to fall off (Apollo, Calico). Your active items should be bought and sold accordingly, so make sure to pay attention to who is carrying fights and who can be mostly ignored or just slowed/silenced. Remember that this build is mostly supportive, so you may need to buy a few damage items like Exposure or Echo Shard in very long games.

14Ability Points
Author's category · 0 items · Early points can be used on either Thorns (lane clear) or Stone Form (health sustain), but you don't need to max them since we're not building full spirit. Your first max should be either Connection or Air Drop. Max Connection with a strong gun carry or when you need big heals, Max Air Drop for good teamfights. Air Drops will be better on most games, but if you have someone like Drifter or Haze and they're carrying the game, go Connection and help them stay alive.

15Active items
Author's category · 0 items · Vortex should stay in your build in most matches, as the slow + grouping is too strong to give up on Ivy. Beam can be replaced with Nova/Barrier or in rare cases another counter item. Don't be afraid to sell and replace actives when you have a lot of souls, your duty as a support is to make fights easier for your team and disable high priority targets. Every game is different, don't buy X counter just because it worked once, as many items are useless against certain heroes.
