Bolt and then pivot to Assistant lategame. Go Trophy if you can play active and get stacks. Go Cultist if your team sucks and you need to play more passive. You can max bunny over Assistant if you want. AP is not set and is very flexible.
1Lane

Kill their wave before they kill your wave otherwise our abilities are way harder to use.

Warp Stone
Core movement item for survivability as well as being really good for enabling certain ults like Pocket / Dynamo / Lash. Can go Dispel/Counterspell over this instead.
Mystic Expansion
If you are noob then buy this over Improved Spirit in laning phase. Also allows you to hit all 3 creeps in T2 camps.

Greater Expansion
Built from Mystic Expansion
Amazing for bolt / rabbit / actives and almost every ult you steal.
Superior Cooldown
All of our power is in our buttons and this gives us more buttons.
Superior Duration
Really strong for rabbit, items, and most ults you steal. Also makes it easier to abuse the double TP we get with Spectral Assistant.
5Survive
Author's category · 5 items
Dispel Magic
If there's slowing hexes or silence waves, you will need this.
Counterspell
Can be bad due to desync but it's good against mobile burst heroes like Calico / Lash / Pocket and it can also save you from CC. Usually Warp Stone is better if you can't buy both.
Metal Skin
Good if you are getting jumped by a roaming pick Haze or if you need it to survive vs. gun Warden / Geist / etc. Also good when popping certain ults like Dynamo or Seven.
6Late game
Game stage · 5 items · NOT L-R - read annotations and buy off vibes
Divine Barrier
Good if getting owned by Pocket / Drifter / Ivy ult.
Diviner's Kevlar
Good if you need survival with ults that make you targeted in fights more like Warden / Seven / Dynamo but it's pretty luxury.
Transcendent Cooldown
Built from Superior Cooldown

Extra Regen
If you need it - otherwise don't buy.
Grit
Good item for taking trades in lane and if you plan on upgrading to Reactive or Weapon Shielding. Don't get Spirit Shielding most of the time cause Weapon is usually better.
Extra Health
Good for flat HP early. Don't bother upgrading though.
Categories appear in the author's order. Only the editor's default Early, Mid and Late sections are marked as game stages; the author's own categories keep their names. “Built from” links come from the game's item recipes.

Extra Charge
Try to sync dropping assistant with 2 bolt charges until you have T2 bolt.
Extra Spirit
Spirit good.
Improved Spirit
Built from Extra Spirit
Spirit good. Can slot in Mystic Expansion here instead if you are struggling to reliably hit bolts. Otherwise, this is best for damage.
Rapid Recharge
Built from Extra Charge
One of your main power spikes alongside T2 and T3 bolt.
Basic survivability and decent stats. Can go Reactive instead for 4.8k spike with Veil as well.

If you want to play more active and you feel like you can farm stacks.
Built from Improved Spirit
Huge damage spike. Benefits your entire kit so it's very important.
Quicksilver Reload
Kinda shit by itself but you need it for Merc Mag.
Mercurial Magnum
Built from Quicksilver Reload
More damage than Escalating Exposure always buy this first.
Escalating Exposure
Can get Indomitable or Echo Shard before this but Assistant will stack Escalating really well.
Echo Shard
Always broken with max rabbit. You win every 1v1 with this item unless they have items like Unstop or Counterspell + Indom.
Indomitable
Built from Reactive Barrier
Get earlier if you need it but make sure you're buying it after Merc Mag.
Spirit Resilience
Buy if getting nuked by a hero like GT.

If you need it to stop getting one shot by spirit nuke.
Don't like buying this unless full actives.
